Cimota, a renowned Canadian civil engineering firm, was looking for a practical way to move heavy materials across a constrained Hydro-Québec jobsite without overloading the work environment or making internal logistics harder than they needed to be.
At the Bryson Generating Station dam refurbishment project, the company had to transport custom bins loaded with concrete, wood, metal, and debris across narrow circulation areas and a suspended walkway with limited load capacity. The machine had to carry serious weight, stay compact, and work day after day without becoming a burden in itself.
That is where Movex Innovation’s XC-48 all-terrain track carrier came in.
The challenge: Moving heavy materials in a highly constrained environment
The Bryson jobsite came with very specific hurdles during day-to-day refurbishment work.
The team had to work around a suspended walkway with an approximate capacity of 15,000 lb, along with narrow traffic zones and strict Hydro-Québec site restrictions. Bringing in a bulkier piece of equipment may have added transport capacity on paper, but in practice, it would have created more problems than it solved. It would have taken up more of the allowable load on the walkway, reduced the ability of other equipment to circulate safely, and complicated site operations.
Manual handling was not a realistic alternative either.
Without a dedicated transport solution, crews would have had to move heavy materials by hand more often, increasing physical effort, fatigue, and the risk of musculoskeletal injuries. This could potentially lead to workers’ sick leaves and increased comp claims.
It was time to find a new generation of heavy-load lifting equipment.
The solution: A compact, high-capacity all-terrain carrier built for rugged jobsite transport
Cimota decided to use Movex Innovation’s XC-48 all-terrain track carrier as its main internal transport machine on site.
Weighing roughly 2,600 to 2,700 lb while carrying up to 4,000 lb, the XC-48 gave the team the load capacity they needed without the footprint of a heavier machine. That balance mattered. It allowed Cimota to respect the site’s structural limits while still moving substantial loads where they needed to go.
Instead of spreading transport tasks across several machines, Movex Innovation’s XC-48 all-terrain track carrier became the central tool, carrying custom bins filled with concrete, wood, metal, and debris over distances of 100 m and more, day after day.
Its compact size also made it easier to operate alongside other equipment in narrow work zones, which helped the team make better use of the available space.

The results: Fewer equipment headaches and simpler logistics
Movex Innovation’s XC-48 all-terrain track carrier did more than move material. It also simplified the way Cimota organized transport on site.

Without it, the company likely would have needed to rent an additional loader or another small transport unit. The team also would have had to rely more heavily on other equipment for internal movements, which would have tied up equipment needed elsewhere.
Instead, the XC-48 handled a large share of the internal transport work on its own. That meant fewer moving parts in the logistics plan, less dependence on heavier equipment, and the potential to reduce equipment rental and mobilization costs.
Electric power for a productivity boost
Because this was an outdoor project, the electric aspect was not mainly about emissions control. But it still delivered real operational advantages.
The team did not have to manage fuel. Maintenance stayed minimal. The machine performed reliably in cold weather, and battery life was more than sufficient for the work being done.
In fact, battery autonomy was so strong that it barely became a concern on site. René said: “There are only advantages to battery power. I don’t think it ever dropped below 90%.”
The machine was also easy to integrate into the workflow. Training was handled quickly in-house, technical support was fast, and the XC-48 was up and running in no time flat
Less physical wear on workers
Thanks to the ergonomic, remote-controlled design of Movex Innovation’s XC-48 all-terrain track carrier, tough material handling by team members was reduced to a minimum.
Instead of asking workers to fight with heavy loads by hand, the team had a machine that could take on the hardest parts of each job. That reduced physical effort, improved handling of heavy materials, and made daily work safer.
A strong fit for future projects
Although the Bryson project is outdoors, Cimota already sees strong potential for Movex Innovation’s XC-48 all-terrain track carrier and battery-powered equipment on future jobs, especially in indoor parking structures, semi-enclosed work areas, and restricted environments where emissions need to be controlled more carefully.
The machine is expected to be redeployed to other projects once the current site wraps up in December 2026.
