Movex Innovation,
our
story
The adventure began in 2002 in Shawinigan, Canada, a small industrial town that was once the heart of the paper industry. Today, the region is experiencing rapid economic growth, centered on renewable energy and electric vehicles.
Movex Innovation is a company that offers more than 20 models of ultra-compact equipment, over a hundred configurations, options, and accessories, and several patents. All of our equipment is now ultra-compact, robust, electric, and remote-controlled.
Our story
Following an accident that occurred while manually transporting a heavy load, founder Fabien Lavoie designed the first remote-controlled, tracked electric device capable of moving heavy loads up and down stairs (the Track-O). Initially intended for the vending machine market, this device could transport loads of up to 1,500 pounds without risk of injury.
Creation of Movex Innovation at the Grand-Mère plant in Quebec (the plant is now dedicated to R&D and equipment maintenance).
RLS, an investment company with more than 250 employees at the time, joined forces with the company as a strategic financial partner.
Movex committed to making all its future electrical equipment recyclable, becoming the leader and first manufacturer of ultra-compact equipment to take this bold step.
The first Twin-Track vehicles are marketed and continuously improved in collaboration with Hydro-Québec in order to optimize the transport of electrical transformers to remote locations.
Development of the Cross-Country Utility all-terrain transporter, designed for line workers employed by electric power companies.
Development of the “MINIDOZER” mini loader with electromagnetic protection for cleaning alumina in the basements of aluminum smelters, in collaboration with Rio Tinto. Movex is now the world leader in mini loaders for industry.
Movex begins marketing its products worldwide.
Movex is relocating its facilities to Shawinigan and doubling its production capacity.
The company is focusing primarily on developing and improving its ultra-compact equipment, while expanding its range of options and accessories to attract future distributors and customers.
The Heavy-Duty model is launched on the market for industrial environments and can easily transport up to 11,000 pounds.
Construction of a new plant in Shawinigan and relocation of operations. Movex quadruples its production capacity.
Movex becomes the distributor of Italian-made Zonzini electric stairlifts in Canada and the United States. The Zonzini product line, designed for commercial applications, perfectly complements the products manufactured by Movex.
Movex and its engineers launch the first-ever fully electric 30-inch wide crawler crane. Today, this solution is mainly used in the electric utility sector for transporting pad-mounted transformers, but also in the mining and petrochemical industries.
The company is expanding its activities by investing heavily in a new training center for its international customers and partners, as well as in a center dedicated to equipment maintenance.
Today: Movex has recorded sales in more than 25 other countries. We are proud to be pioneers and the first to manufacture robust, ultra-compact, high-quality remote-controlled electric vehicles.
