The history of the company is quite unique and we believe it is worth telling as an example of persistence and tenacity. This is how an unpleasant surprise can be turned into a positive experience.
Mr. Fabien Lavoie, Founder and President of Movex Innovation, owns an amusement company which specializes in leasing amusement equipment. In a normal day at the office, Mr. Lavoie and his team must move pool tables, pinball machines, and other equipment in and out of various sites.
On a cold day in October 2001, Mr. Lavoie’s life changed permanently.
While moving a pool table from the 2nd floor to the ground level, Mr. Lavoie and his team mate lost control of the table, whicst the stairways, breaking his back. It took the rescue workers several minutes to free him from his unfavourable position.
Miraculously, Mr. Lavoie can now walk but obviously can no longer lift heavy objects. While continuing to manage his business, he looked tirelessly for a solution to move his heavy equipment in stairways, only to realize there was nothing available on the market to do the job safely. Reluctantly, he undertook the challenge to design his own transportation equipment and the ‘ancestor’ of the Track-O was born in October 2002.
After getting a lot of attention from everyone who looked at his prototype, Mr. Lavoie believed that his product could have many applications but realized that he, alone, could not take his prototype to the next level. He had to find an engineering firm prepared to design a safe, reliable, versatile, environmentally friendly and easy to operate product that could be mass produced. To achieve this objective, Mr. Lavoie finally selected Avant-Garde Technologies for their expertise and reputation of designing robust products that last for years of intense usage.
After several design changes and 14 months of extensive tests under real life conditions, we are proud to announce that the Track-O has received UL approval and is now ready for commercial offering to rental stores and companies that have the need to transport heavy loads in a safe and reliable way.
